St. Lawrence is blessed to have a number of groups coming together on a regular basis for shared prayer. The variety of groups reflects the rich diversity of devotional paths within Catholic spirituality.
Charismatic Prayer Group
Charismatic prayer lifts up praise and worship to the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit, through song, sharing of Scripture, and personal faith witness. Our Charismatic Prayer Group meets on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM in the Bethany Center. Please contact Jeanne Salvatore via the rectory office, (631) 589-0042.
Contemplative Prayer Group
This is an ancient form of prayer—rediscovered in recent decades—which sets aside words and images in favor of sitting silently and receptively in the presence of God. The group meets on Mondays at 11:00 AM in the Bethany Center. Please contact Barbara Shea at (631) 589-5257.
Eucharistic Adoration
Come worship the Eucharistic Lord on the First Friday of each month, beginning with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 12 noon in the church. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed communally at 3:00 PM, and solemn Benediction follows at 3:30 PM.
The Blessed Sacrament is also exposed for an hour of prayer for priests each Thursday evening from 6 to 7:00 PM.
Ministry of Praise
Members of this prayer group, designed in particular for the homebound, our senior citizens, and those living outside the immediate area, pray at home for the intentions of the Church, our parish, and the wider world. Please contact Nancy Mueller via the rectory office, (631) 589-0042.
Queen of Peace Rosary and Miraculous Medal Novena
Each Monday evening, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, the Rosary is followed by a novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
The Rosary
This beloved and centuries-old form of prayer has as its focus events (or “mysteries”) from the life of the Lord Jesus and his Blessed Mother. The Rosary is prayed in common Monday through Friday, immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass in the church, and on other special occasions as announced to the parish.
