The Thirteenth Station:
Jesus is the Word of God to bring light
into the world
Pentecost Sunday
Mass at the Immaculate Conception Chapel
Celebrant:
Father Paul Wilderotter - Florida
Homily by:
Deacon Patrick LaBella, Sayville, New York
The message which I tried to convey in brief was that
as Christ gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to his disciples, and
commissioned them to build his Church after he goes to the Father so to
it is with each of us. We received that same Holy Spirit and when we
leave Jamaica our work is not done, but rather has just begun. We are to
take our faith of the risen Christ with us and share the love and
blessings that God gives each of us, with one another, both near and
far. And as the Church celebrates this day we too should celebrate that
in faith, hope, love, and charity our service along with all our
brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world, may one day rid
this very poor country of suffering, pain, and despair caused by lack of
the most basic necessities of food, shelter and medicine. Christ is
sometimes hard to recognize, but not here he was and continues to be all
around us in everyplace we were and in everyone we met. We came here to
offer ourselves in service and in return the people of Jamaica have
given us the face of Christ and allowed us to meet him in the flesh.
